Mazatlan -> Isabela (Women's Course)

Cruisers Academy’s All Women Sailing Courses with Captain Heather Richard, create a unique and empowering space for women who want to build confidence and skill on the water. These courses are designed with women’s learning styles in mind, creating an inclusive environment that fosters hands-on learning, encourages all questions, and meets each sailor at her own level.

For women who have felt sidelined or hesitant in co-ed sailing situations, these courses provide a space where everyone is not only invited but truly supported through custom coaching.

Our hands-on curriculum and background in decades of teaching sailing bridge common learning gaps that can occur in traditional or partner-led instruction. Whether you are just starting your sailing journey, have spent lots of time on the water but are still struggling with the basics, or are experienced crew looking to level up to Skipper- Captain Heather Richards is a lifelong sailor and teacher that will get you to the next level in an engaging and fun environment.

This course is more than just a trip—it’s an investment in your safety, confidence, ability to be a valued crew member, enjoyment of future sailing experiences, and the best next step to reach your sailing goals and dreams...

And if you are sailing with your family or partner, it is also an investment in their success on the water too!

There is no better tool or equipment you can have on board than a well-trained crew.” ~Larry Pardey

Put your sailing skills to the test by cruising the beautiful coast of mainland Mexico! Join us in Mazatlan to hop aboard Lintika for a ~100 nautical mile, overnight passage South to Isla Isabela- and back again! It is likely that the way there will be downwind, and the way back will be upwind- so it is ideal for anyone who wants to learn about passage planning: picking the right weather window, working on their night watch skills, and learning about offshore navigation. Your time aboard will give plenty of opportunities to get to know the systems aboard Lintika, and experience a good mix of sailing and exploration/relaxation. If conditions permit, we will aim to spend a few days at anchor at Isla Isabel, which is known as a miniature 'Galapagos of Mexico' because it's many nesting birds and iguanas that have no natural enemies and aren't scared of humans! Another potential stop would be in the jungle-zone of San Blas on the coast, before continuing back North.

Every trip is designed to give a generous window of time to pick the best weather for sailing conditions. This means that outside of sailing, a portion of the trip will also be dedicated to experiencing the cruisers lifestyle by snorkeling, paddle boarding, relaxing at anchor or exploring the cultural hubs that Mexico has to offer.

The trip includes your personalized instruction, accommodations aboard including all food and bev., safety equipment, and course materials. We ask students to board Lintika by 12pm the first day the course begins.

February temps range from a high of 80° and low of 62° in Mazatlán/La Cruz.
